What is the It Pay$ to Plug In Program?
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s incentive program, It Pay$ to Plug In, incentivizes the installation of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) chargers in qualifying locations that provide public, workplace, and multi-unit dwelling. The goal of the program is to support the development of EV infrastructure to accommodate increased EV adoption in New Jersey by offering rebates to offset equipment and installation costs associated with EV charging stations. The program is available for multi-unit dwellings, businesses, governments, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions.
Program Highlights:
Program enrollment began in March 14, 2022 and closes on May 13, 2022 at midnight. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until all available funding is spent.
What are the Program Requirements?
Eligible Locations Include: Multi-unit Dwellings, Workplaces, Municipalities, Non-Profit Organizations, and Educational Institutions. In addition, eMobility projects are eligible as long as Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Charging stations are in association with shared mobility, car sharing, and ride-hailing services.
Level 1 and Level 2 charging station applicants may not be approved for more than $500,000.00 in projects in a calendar year.
Ranging from $750 per Level 1 charging port. Must install at least 5 charging ports.
Ranging from $4,000 per Level 2 charging port. Must install at least 2 charging ports per site and may apply for a maximum of 20 ports per site.
eMobility reimbursements vary depending on location and availability to the public.
Public Places can receive 100% up to maximum if it’s government or private property.
Workplaces can receive 100% up to maximum if it’s government or private property.
Multi-unit Dwellings can receive 100% up to maximum if it’s government or private property.
Corridors (Public DCFC sites) can receive rebates of 100% up to maximum if it’s government property, and 80% up to maximum if it’s private property.
