While discussing how to attract and retain residents and tenants with EV charging, there was one main theme heard from all presenters—EV charging at multifamily properties will change from being an amenity to being a necessity.
As EVs become mainstream, drivers who live in multifamily properties will expect to be able to charge their cars. In fact, 85% of EV charging happens at home. However, for the drivers who live in apartments and condominiums, they don’t usually have this access. Which is why we encourage multifamily property owners and managers to start future proofing their buildings with EV infrastructure. Beyond the environmental benefits from EV charging, there is an intrinsic value, which is: increasing resident satisfaction, resident retention, and the overall marketability of the community.
Despite these benefits, some multifamily property owners have doubts. We understand that adding EV charging may seem daunting, (given the players involved, the approval process, installation, maintenance, etc.) but, fortunately, adding EV infrastructure isn’t as difficult as it once was.
