New York is leading the charge toward the fuel of the future — electricity. From Binghamton to the Big Apple, there are big savings for businesses looking to install EV infrastructure. Once your company takes advantage of federal EV tax credits, EV Connect can help you find available New York State EV tax credits that will help defray costs further and maximize your investment for years to come.

Electrifying the Empire State

There are various New York EV rebates and tax credits that make a smart investment even more attractive for businesses. These incentives cover nearly every part of the process of upgrading to EV charging, and when combined with federal tax credits, can help New York businesses transition to all-electric at greatly reduced costs.

Upgrading your Fleet

Federal tax credits offset up to $7,500 of the cost of purchasing a new electric vehicle. For New Yorkers, the state’s Drive Clean Rebate adds an additional rebate of up to $2,000 — and New York businesses can apply that credit to every EV they purchase.

Moreover, companies that purchase low- and zero-emission trucks and buses may be eligible for the New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program which covers up to 100% of the difference in cost between an electric truck and a comparable diesel truck. Depending on the class of truck, there are savings of up to $385,000 per all-electric vehicle — and once you have upgraded your fleet, New York State offers extra benefits like emissions inspection exceptions that make maintaining your fleet easier.

Installing EV Equipment

One of the most robust New York State tax incentives for workplace EV charging is the New York Make-Ready initiative which will cover up to 100% of the project costs for EV charging. In addition, the New York State Tax Credit for Public and Workplace Charging provides up to $5,000 in tax credits for the purchase and installation of a new EV charging station.

The Charge Ready NY rebate provides up to $4,000 per Level 2 charging station installed in parking lots. That includes both residential and commercial lots, as well as, office building garages and public parking lots. Alternatively, businesses that install Direct Current Fast Charging stations can apply for New York’s DC Fast Charging Incentive which is designed to reduce costs on everything from purchasing equipment to labor costs for installation.

Supporting Your City

In addition to the various New York State EV tax credits, the Municipal ZEV rebate program provides even greater incentives for local businesses that provide EV infrastructure for the public. Depending on where your business is based, you may be able to apply for these grants and help your local community transition to a more sustainable future.
