California Department of General Services Notice on Collection

Collection and Use of Personal Information. The California Department of General Services (DGS), Office of Fleet and Asset Management (OFAM) offers electric vehicle charging stations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change as directed by Executive Order N-19-19. DGS collects personal information such as name, email address, and mobile phone number.  Any personal information collected by state agencies is subject to the limitations in the Information Practices Act and state policy. The DGS’ general privacy policy is available at https://www.dgs.ca.gov/Privacy.

Providing Personal Information.  OFAM collects name, email address, and phone number from you to alert you when the four-hour time limit is exceeded, or when charging sessions may be temporarily shut off in order to avoid overloading the electrical system.  These data elements were derived from optional user registration on the EV Connect platform.  If drivers chose not to register as a user with EV Connect, OFAM will not have the contact information to alert you when the four-hour time limit is exceeded or when charging session will be temporarily shut off.    

Access to Your Information. You may review the records maintained by the DGS Office of Fleet and Asset Management that contain your personal information, as permitted by the Information Practices Act. See below for contact information.

Possible Disclosure of Personal Information. To comply with the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, DGS will share charging session data with the California Environmental Protection Agency. However, DGS will not share any personally identifiable information (PII).
